What can you expect after a miscarriage?

After the uterus is empty, you will continue to bleed for about 5 to 14 days. You will notice that the bleeding becomes less and darker in color. The abdomen often remains sensitive. This can last for a few more days.

Further symptoms may include:

Bowel problems such as diarrhea or constipation
(Severe) fatigue
Feeling empty, both physically and emotionally

Rest

Rest is good for the healing of your body and also helps with the processing of a miscarriage. It is therefore good to give in to the fatigue and rest a lot. Taking time off work can also help. Over time, you will naturally pick up your life again. Women do this in their own way. Everyone is different and some women need more time than others.

Intercourse after a miscarriage

Having sex after a miscarriage is possible if both partners feel ready for it. Medically, it is not necessary to wait for a period to try to conceive again. However, it is advisable to wait until the bleeding has stopped, as there is otherwise a higher risk of a uterine infection.
