If your pregnancy is progressing without problems, you can choose where you want to give birth. This can be at home or in the outpatient department at ZGT Almelo or MST Enschede. It’s important that you choose a place where you and your partner feel relaxed and comfortable. Whether you give birth at home or in the hospital, we are there to support you and we receive extra help from the maternity nurse.<\/p>\n
We discuss your wishes with you during pregnancy. However, during delivery, you may have other wishes. Please let us know. We will work together with you to determine what is comfortable and wise. It may be necessary to transfer the delivery to the hospital’s gynecologist and clinical midwife during delivery if, for example, you want pain relief or the baby has passed meconium. We will ensure that we transfer you to the hospital properly.<\/p>\n

If you choose to give birth at home, we will support you throughout the process. A maternity nurse will also be present to assist us, but especially to support you during the contractions and pushing. You will give birth in your own bed and after delivery, you can take a shower while your bed is being changed. However, it may be better to give birth in the hospital during the delivery. It depends on the situation how we will transport you to the hospital, by private car or ambulance.<\/p>\n
In the 9-month plan, you can find more information about what you need to prepare and have at home for a home birth.<\/em><\/p>\n If you choose an outpatient birth, you will give birth in the delivery rooms at the hospital. You can see this as a home birth moved to the hospital. We will assist you along with a maternity nurse. You will manage the initial contractions at home and go to the hospital when the dilation progresses or when you choose to. Usually, we will accompany you to the delivery room.<\/p>\n It can be useful and calming to drive the route to the hospital during pregnancy. If everything goes well, you will go home with your baby about two to three hours after the delivery. It is important to know that you have to pay a personal contribution for a polyclinic delivery.
