You can contribute to this by giving your child a good start with a healthy lifestyle.<\/p>\n<p>In about 4% of pregnancies, there is a congenital abnormality or hereditary condition. You cannot do anything about this yourself. Every pregnant woman can choose to investigate the health of her child. There are various prenatal tests available, including the NIPT, the first trimester screening (13-week ultrasound), and the second trimester screening (20-week ultrasound). Choosing a test can be difficult. You may have to make difficult decisions about further testing after an unfavorable result and whether or not to terminate a pregnancy.
